Evan Newberry
A rising star on the golf course
Newberry, a junior golfer, has made a strong impression in his two years on the Georgetown golf team. This season, Evan played a key role in helping his team finish second in the league. One of his most impressive moments came in a match against Ripley High School, when he chipped in from ten yards to secure a birdie, an incredible play that showcased his skill under pressure.
Evan’s best score this season was a solid 43, demonstrating his consistency and steady performance. Beyond golf, Evan is also an active member of Hope Squad and participates in baseball and track, reflecting his commitment to both his sports and his school community.
Carolyn and Evan’s hard work, leadership, and dedication make them well-deserving of the November Athlete of the Month award.
Congratulations to both for their outstanding achievements this season!
Carolyn Edmisten
A leader on and off the court
Edmisten, a junior volleyball player, has been a key contributor to the Georgetown volleyball program for the past five years.
As team captain for the past two seasons, Carolyn’s leadership and skill have been crucial to the team’s success. Although the team finished the season with a 6-18 record, Carolyn’s individual performances stood out.
A season highlight for Carolyn came during a thrilling win over Bethel-Tate, where she registered 17 assists, helping secure the victory. Another unforgettable moment came in a match against the CNE Lady Rockets, where she nailed a game-winning kill on the line to win the set on the opposing team’s senior night. Although our Lady G-Men didn’t clinch the victory that night, Edmisten’s effort made the game intense.
Carolyn’s exceptional performance earned her First Team All-Star honors for the season. In addition to volleyball, Carolyn also participates in bowling and softball, showing her versatility as an athlete.
