The Gazette Athletes of the Month

Zeb Planck

Freshman Zeb Planck is making a name for himself in both academics and athletics. This is his first year as an official member of the high school academic team, but he’s been involved for years—first as a middle school competitor, then as the high school team’s manager. He’s been a GHS student since kindergarten, so representing his school is nothing new.

His favorite moment this season? A tight match against Felicity, where the teams were neck and neck until GHS pulled ahead by just a point or two. Outside of the academic team, Zeb is part of the track team, shows animals through 4-H, and has taken an interest in bowling. But what he values most about his team is the friendships and how close everyone has become this season.

Madisyn Gable

If there’s one thing Madisyn Gable knows, it’s how to bring the energy. A senior at GHS, she has been cheering for six years and is currently leading the varsity squad as captain. Along with school cheer, she competes in gymnastics at Inspire Training Center and plans to continue cheering in college.

This season, one of her favorite moments has been getting to know the new girls on the team and choreographing fresh routines. But cheer hasn’t always been easy—she’s pushed through knee injuries and two tough ankle injuries to keep doing what she loves. After three years on varsity, she’s leaving behind a legacy of dedication, resilience, and plenty of school spirit.
